About the club

Established in 1880, Stockholm Roddförening is Sweden’s oldest rowing club.

Stockholm Roddförening is lucky to have as it’s home waters Djurgårdsbrunnskanalen and Djurgårdsbrunnsviken.

Situated in the very heart of Stockholm, SRF offers some of the most idyllic rowing in Sweden. Long summer evenings with calm waters set against the backdrop of the Nordiska Museet, our club embodies all the best that Stockholm has to offer.

The club has a wide range of  boats from singles to eights and caters for all categories of rowers, from novices to competitive.

The club house

The main boathouse was designed in 1913 by the architect Sigurd Lewerentz and Torsten Stubelius and remains largely unchanged since then due to it’s cultural importance.

The building was constructed using the re-cycled spectator stands that stood on Strandvägen during the summer Olympics of 1912, the seat numbers still visable today on the planks that were re-used for the clubhouse ceiling.

The new boathouse, designed by architect Gunnar Mattson was inaugurated in May 2004.
