Thinking of learning to row then why not take a beginners course with us on the beautiful waters by Djurgården. You will get to experience different types of boats along with the theory of rowing with our excellent instructors.
About the course.
We aim to introduce the beginner to the basic aspects of rowing including safety and the equipment in one of our more stable boats to ensure you can enjoy the exhilarating experience of rowing. Once you have a little confidence on the water we will then move on to the faster, thinner boats and you will have the opportunity to row in singles, doubles, 4 and finally in an eight.
The course take 3 weeks and we meet at the boathouse 2 times a week. Places on each course are limited to 15 participants. To be considered for the course you need to be able to swim 200m fully clothed.
The price for the course is 950kr per person. Should you then choose to become a full member of the club and continue rowing this amount is debited from the full membership fee (1500kr)

How to apply for a place on the course.
- You can send an e-mail to

- Wait for confirmation from the club that you have a place reserved.
- Once you have received confirmation pay the course fee in advance to Stockholms Roddförening plusgirokonto 79653-2. We will then send you e-mail confirmation of your place on the course.
For those that wish to continue rowing after the beginners course is completed the course fee is deducted from the yearly membership which is 1500 kr. ( See club membership cost)
Where
We meet at the clubhouse which is situated at Lidovägen 22, Djurgården. Bus number 69 from Nybrokajen takes you to within 250 meters of the club and the stop is Djurgårdsbrunn. There is no parking at the boathouse but a nearby carpark is signed posted.
What to wear
Training clothes are sufficient. We recommend something warm though as being on the water in April can be a little chilly. The clubhouse has separate men’s and women’s changing rooms with shower
After the beginners course, what’s next?
Having completed the rowing introduction course we hope you will now want to join our club and take your rowing to the next level, be it recreational rowing, trying out doubles, fours, quads and eights or even competing in regattas.
Our aim is to make rowing fun and accessible to everyone and easy to become an active member of the club.
SRF holds a regular weekly training practice on monday’s starting at 1830 for those who have completed the beginners course and who would like to train in a group environment or would like to train in one of the larger boats. There will always be someone on hand to answer questions and offer encouragement.
